I love to read, travel, and write magazine articles and books. I have taught for several decades and have an MA in education. My wife was born in Chengdu and we met in America. Basically, I am a typical American in that my ancestors came from many places. As a child I attended the excellent elementary laboratory school of Northern Michigan University. That school placed a strong emphasis on art, mathematics, science, reading, swimming, basketball, track, and student safety. As a student I was frequently required to do many types of independent research and writing projects. I was often encouraged to do extensive reading for fun in order to build a powerful vocabulary and enhance my creativity. I benefited from my many teachers who did their best to help me build academic skills, politeness, and morality. I learned from my parents and teachers that good habits form the character of successful students and adults. I deeply appreciate the education I received as a youth.
